Run a virtual workshop with HeySummit

Written by Benjamin Dell

In HeySummit, a workshop is set up as a talk. You can then choose how attendees join the session and which interaction tools support the workshop.

Choose how to deliver the workshop

  • Webinar or meeting: connect a supported account under Event Setup > Webinar Hosts, then use it for the talk. Zoom Webinar and Zoom Meeting are separate options.

  • HeyStream or another live stream: choose Live Stream for the talk and select the appropriate source.

  • External workshop room: choose External URL when attendees should leave HeySummit and join a room hosted elsewhere.

  • Pre-recorded workshop: choose Pre-Recorded and add the video source you want attendees to watch.

Add interaction

HeySummit's built-in interactive features include chat, Q&A, and polls. You can also enable attendee networking for the event when participants need to connect beyond the workshop itself. If you use an external meeting or webinar room, decide whether interaction will happen inside that provider, in HeySummit, or both.

Test the attendee journey

  • Check the talk date, time, ticket access, and broadcast source.

  • Preview the talk as an attendee and confirm the join or play action opens the intended destination.

  • Test chat, Q&A, polls, or the external room with the same permissions attendees will use.

  • If the workshop will have a replay, configure and test that source separately.
