How HeySummit and Zoom work together

Understand what HeySummit manages, what Zoom manages, and how to connect them for live talks.

Written by Benjamin Dell

HeySummit and Zoom do different parts of a live event. HeySummit manages the event experience around your sessions, while Zoom provides the meeting or webinar used to run a live talk.

What HeySummit manages

  • Event pages, registration, tickets, schedules, and attendee access.

  • Speaker and host records, event emails, reminders, replay access, sponsors, affiliates, and event reporting.

  • The connection between a HeySummit talk and its Zoom meeting or webinar.

What Zoom manages

  • The live meeting or webinar, hosts, panelists, room controls, and Zoom recording settings.

  • Zoom account access, licences, pricing, and meeting or webinar capacity.

How the connection works

Bring your own Zoom account and connect it to a Webinar Host in HeySummit. Choose Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar based on the Zoom product available to that account, then select the connected host when you configure the talk. HeySummit can create and keep the future Zoom session linked to the talk, while attendees start from the HeySummit event experience. Your Zoom account must have the licence, features, and capacity needed for the live room; Zoom capacity is separate from the attendee capacity available in HeySummit. HeySummit connects to Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars, not Zoom Events.
