Set up a pre-recorded talk

Written by Benjamin Dell

You can mix live and pre-recorded sessions in a HeySummit event. A scheduled pre-recorded session uses an existing hosted video at its broadcast time. Eligible sessions can also use chat, Q&A and polls when enabled and available on your plan. Choose a supported video provider and supply its URL, ID or embed code; the normal setup does not upload the video file to HeySummit.

Set up the video

  1. Go to Content & Schedule > Sessions. Open the session’s Actions > Manage Session.

  2. Open Broadcast and choose Pre-recorded under Broadcast Type. For an on-demand event, use its Video step; the broadcast type is already pre-recorded.

  3. Choose the Provider, then follow its instructions to enter the video URL, ID or full embed code.

  4. Select Save and Close. Use the session’s Preview to check the player before sharing it.

Check the source and attendee view

  • Many supported providers accept a full video URL and extract the ID. Use the provider-specific instructions in the picker when a particular format is required.

  • HTML5 Video needs a direct video-file URL. See Troubleshoot a direct HTML5 video.

  • Check the video’s privacy and embed permissions with the attendee role you intend to use. A preview does not prove a paid attendee has the correct ticket access.

  • Public events and Public Access sessions do not show HeySummit chat, Q&A or polls. See interactive feature setup.
