Choose between comments and live interaction

Compare talk-page comments, custom comments, and live chat, Q&A, and polls.

Written by Benjamin Dell

HeySummit offers several ways for people to discuss a session. Choose the option based on whether you want a persistent conversation on the talk page or live interaction during the broadcast.

Use talk-page comments

Use HeySummit comments for a persistent discussion on the talk page, especially after the broadcast has finished.

  • Go to Setup > General > Talk & Replay Experience and turn on Enable Comments?.

  • Registered attendees with access to the talk can comment, and event organisers or staff can moderate the discussion.

  • Comments are disabled for public events because those pages can be viewed without registration.

  • For one talk, you can stop new comments after the broadcast while keeping existing comments visible.

Use a custom comments provider

If your plan includes Advanced Integrations, go to Setup > Integrations, find Talk Comments Provider, and select Configure. Add the provider's HTML or JavaScript embed code and turn on Enable Custom Comments?. A custom provider replaces the default HeySummit comments system; it does not turn on HeySummit chat, Q&A, or polls.

Use live chat, Q&A, or polls during the broadcast

Chat, Q&A, and polls are separate Interactive Features for talks that use an embedded live stream or pre-recorded video. They can be configured as event defaults in Talk & Replay Experience and overridden for an individual talk in Advanced Settings. Chat inside an external webinar room is controlled by that webinar provider and is separate from HeySummit comments.
