Use BrainCert with a HeySummit talk

Connect BrainCert as a native webinar provider for live talks.

Written by Benjamin Dell

Use BrainCert when you want HeySummit to create and manage BrainCert virtual classes for your live talks. After a BrainCert host is connected, HeySummit can create the BrainCert class for each linked talk, update it when the talk changes, give hosts and speakers their launch links, and generate attendee-specific BrainCert join links for registered attendees.

Before you start

  • You need a BrainCert account with access to the Virtual Classroom API.

  • You need the BrainCert Virtual Classroom API key for the account that will host the talks. BrainCert provides this under Generate API Key.

  • HeySummit plans do not include a BrainCert account, provider licence, attendee capacity, recording allowance, or paid BrainCert subscription. Check your BrainCert plan for session duration, attendee capacity, recording, and concurrent-session limits before the event goes live.

Connect BrainCert to a Webinar Platform Host

  1. From your event dashboard, go to Setup > Webinar Hosts.

  2. Create a host, or choose the existing host that should own the BrainCert classes.

  3. Click Connect on the host card.

  4. Choose BrainCert.

  5. Enter the BrainCert Virtual Classroom API key and save.

HeySummit validates the API key before saving the connection. If BrainCert reports that the key is invalid, copy the current key from BrainCert and try again.

Use BrainCert on a live talk

  1. Go to Content > Talks and create or edit the talk.

  2. In the broadcast settings, choose Live Webinar or Meeting.

  3. Select the BrainCert-connected host.

  4. Save the talk. HeySummit will create or sync the BrainCert class using the talk title, schedule, duration, speaker details, and description.

For most talks, let HeySummit create the BrainCert class from the talk settings. If BrainCert blocks the class because of plan limits, shorten the session, reduce the expected attendee count, or upgrade the BrainCert Virtual Classroom API plan, then reset the webinar in HeySummit.

How attendees and speakers join

Attendees should use the HeySummit schedule, talk page, or event emails to join. BrainCert uses attendee-specific launch links, so HeySummit generates and stores a separate BrainCert join link for each registered attendee when needed.

Hosts and speakers receive their own BrainCert launch links through the normal HeySummit live-talk workflow. BrainCert does not use a single generic attendee join URL in the same way as some other webinar providers.

Attendance and recordings

After a BrainCert talk has finished, HeySummit can sync BrainCert attendance reports back to the talk attendee records. Recording availability and retention depend on the connected BrainCert account and plan.

Troubleshooting

  • If the host shows an invalid API key error, reconnect the host with the current BrainCert Virtual Classroom API key.

  • If BrainCert says the class cannot be created because of minutes-per-session or attendee-seat limits, adjust the talk duration or expected attendee count, or update the BrainCert plan.

  • If a BrainCert class has been changed or removed inside BrainCert, reset the webinar in HeySummit so a fresh class and launch links can be generated.
