Use BigMarker for live talks

Connect a BigMarker host, configure a live talk, and choose embedded or external attendee delivery.

Written by Benjamin Dell

Connect BigMarker as a Webinar Host when you want HeySummit to create or use a BigMarker session for a live talk.

Connect a BigMarker host

  1. From your event dashboard, go to Event Setup > Webinar Hosts.

  2. Choose Add Host, enter the host's details, then choose Connect on the host record.

  3. Select BigMarker.

  4. Enter the host's BigMarker API key and channel. BigMarker provides the key in the user's API settings; the channel is the value in the public communities URL between /communities/ and /conferences.

  5. Save the connection. Treat the API key like a password and replace it in HeySummit if BigMarker generates a new one.

Configure the live talk

  1. Go to Content > Talks and add a talk or choose Manage Talk.

  2. In the Broadcast step, choose Live Webinar, then select BigMarker.

  3. Choose whether HeySummit should create a new BigMarker session or use an existing one.

  4. Choose Open Externally to send attendees to BigMarker, or Embed in HeySummit to show the supported BigMarker experience on the HeySummit talk page.

  5. Select the connected BigMarker host and finish saving the talk. If you enter an existing session ID, it must belong to the connected BigMarker account and channel.

Run and test the session

  • The host and presenters run the session from BigMarker.

  • Attendees use the HeySummit talk page. Depending on the delivery mode, they either join there or continue to BigMarker.

  • Use the talk's Preview before the event and also test the session from BigMarker. BigMarker controls its own room features, presenter access, recording settings, and account capacity.

Set up the replay

After the session, a BigMarker recording may be added automatically once it is available. Check Content > Talks > Replay Details. If needed, add it manually by following Use a BigMarker recording as a replay.
