If a Vimeo video does not play in HeySummit, check its URL, privacy and embed permissions before changing the session.
1. Check the video URL or ID
Confirm that HeySummit uses the matching Vimeo recording source and the correct URL or ID. For an unlisted video, include its privacy hash. See finding a Vimeo video ID.
2. Check who can watch
In Vimeo, review the video’s privacy setting. Private restricts viewing to you and your team, so it is unsuitable for ordinary attendee access. Unlisted needs the complete link and hash. If your paid plan offers Embed only, the video can play in embeds without a public Vimeo watch page. This is the current label for the option formerly called Hide from Vimeo.
3. Allow the event’s actual domain
Open the video’s Share > Embed options. Under Where can this be embedded?, review the allowed locations. If you use Specific domains, add the actual hostname attendees visit, such as your event’s HeySummit subdomain or custom domain. Add any other hostname you deliberately use for playback. Do not assume that entering only heysummit.com covers every event address. See Vimeo’s current privacy guide and domain-level privacy instructions for the available controls and plan requirements.
4. Check autoplay and attendee access
Browsers can block automatic playback, especially with sound. Try the play button and, if needed, turn off autoplay for the affected video setting.
Use the organiser preview to check the source and layout. Test the normal page separately with an existing authorised attendee, because preview can bypass ticket checks.
If playback differs by browser or network, check content blockers and browser privacy settings. Provider restrictions still apply even when the attendee has the correct HeySummit ticket.
