You can use YouTube for pre-recorded talks, replay videos, intro videos, speaker dashboard videos, and YouTube Live streams in HeySummit.
For YouTube fields, HeySummit can accept either the full YouTube URL or the raw video ID. If you paste a full YouTube URL, HeySummit stores the video ID for you.
Find the YouTube video ID
Open the video in YouTube or YouTube Studio and look at the URL in your browser. In a URL like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKlLBHbns5E, the video ID is SKlLBHbns5E.
HeySummit also accepts common URL formats such as https://youtu.be/SKlLBHbns5E and https://www.youtube.com/embed/SKlLBHbns5E. If you are using the YouTube Live source, paste the live video's watch URL or ID in the same way.
Add the video to HeySummit
In HeySummit, open the talk, replay, or video field you want to update.
Choose YouTube or YouTube Live as the source.
Paste the full YouTube URL or the video ID.
Save the page, then use the preview page to check playback before attendees see it.
If you have YouTube embed code instead of a normal YouTube URL or ID, use HeySummit's Embed Code source instead of pasting embed code into a YouTube ID field.
Privacy and playback settings
For attendee playback, the YouTube video usually needs to be Public or Unlisted. Private videos are not suitable for normal attendee access because viewers need explicit permission from YouTube.
Also check that embedding is allowed for the video or channel. YouTube's own help docs explain that embedded playback uses the YouTube embed player, and YouTube Studio/Content Manager settings can restrict where videos may be embedded.
If attendees see a YouTube message such as Sign in to confirm you're not a bot, see our YouTube bot-check troubleshooting article.
