Troubleshoot a Spotlightr video that does not play

Check the Spotlightr link, processing status, and allowed-domain settings when a talk video is blank.

Written by Benjamin Dell

If a Spotlightr video does not load in a pre-recorded talk or replay, first confirm that HeySummit has the correct Watch Page URL or video ID, then check whether Spotlightr allows the video to play on your event domain.

Check the video in HeySummit

  1. Go to Content > Talks and open Manage Talk or Replay Details.

  2. Confirm that the selected provider is Spotlightr.

  3. Paste the Spotlightr Watch Page URL or the video ID, then save the talk.

  4. Use Preview and open the pre-recorded or replay view to test playback.

Check Spotlightr access

  • Confirm that the video has finished processing and plays from its Spotlightr Watch Page.

  • If you enabled Spotlightr's allowed-domain restrictions, add the domain that displays your event. Spotlightr expects the top-level domain without https:// or www.

  • Remember to include a custom event domain when your event uses one. Test both the event URL you promote and the HeySummit subdomain if your team uses both.

  • Recheck any password, geography, one-view, or other Spotlightr security controls that could block the intended attendee.

Spotlightr documents its current domain controls in Allowed Domains. For initial setup, see Add a Spotlightr video to a talk.
