Automatic Talk Playlist for Stages

Written by Jerica

You can set a stage date to automatically play talks in sequence based on their scheduled start times. When enabled, each broadcast linked to the stage will play one after another, allowing attendees to remain on the same stage page as sessions progress.

This creates a smoother viewing experience, as attendees do not need to switch between individual talk pages to continue watching scheduled content.

You can also preview the stage experience to see how the talks will appear in sequence.

When to use Automatic Talk Playlist

Use Automatic Talk Playlist when you want a stage date to act like a continuous agenda. Each talk should have its own broadcast setup, such as a live stream, webinar, external link, or pre-recorded video. The stage page then moves through those talks based on their scheduled start times and estimated durations.

This option works best when talks on the same stage date do not overlap. If two talks overlap, attendees may be moved away from a talk before it has finished.

How to enable it

Open the relevant stage in your dashboard, select the stage date, choose Broadcast Settings, go to the Broadcast tab, and select Automatic Talk Playlist.

Fixing warnings before your stage goes live

HeySummit may show a dashboard issue or stage warning if the stage date cannot run cleanly as an Automatic Talk Playlist.

  • Talk broadcast setup conflicts with this stage date: this means at least one linked talk is still set to broadcast on the stage. Automatic Talk Playlist uses each talk's own broadcast setup, so update the affected talks to use their own live stream, webinar, external link, or pre-recorded video before the stage date goes live.

  • Overlapping talks on this stage: this means two or more linked talks overlap based on their scheduled start times and estimated durations. Adjust the talk times or durations so the playlist can move through the schedule cleanly.

If you see one of these warnings, use the Review Stages action from the dashboard issue to open the affected stage and update the linked talks.
