A speaker-level giveaway is a prize giveaway that is linked to a speaker, usually through one of their talks. It can help encourage registrations, live attendance, replay engagement, or participation around a specific session.
Create the giveaway
Go to Content > Offers and Giveaways.
Click Add Offer or Giveaway.
Select Prize Giveaway.
Add the giveaway title, description, icon or image, and Quantity Available. Quantity controls how many winners can be selected for that giveaway.
Use the attribution section to link the giveaway to a Talk, Speaker, or both.
Save the giveaway.
If you link the giveaway to a talk, HeySummit treats it as a talk-level giveaway. If that talk has speakers, the giveaway can appear with that talk and with the relevant speaker content.
Winner timing
Giveaway winner timing is controlled from Event Setup > Settings > Giveaway Settings, plus any per-giveaway winner-generation override you set on the giveaway itself.
By default, talk-level giveaways use the event's talk giveaway timing setting. That can be the end of each talk, a set number of minutes after each talk ends, or the event/bundle winner date and time. Event-level and bundled giveaways use the event/bundle winner date and time, or the default event-level timing when that field is blank.
If automatic winner generation is disabled, or if a giveaway is set to manual-only, use the Generate Winners action from Content > Offers and Giveaways when you are ready to pick winners.
Who can win?
HeySummit selects from eligible completed attendees. Hosts, speakers, and the event owner are excluded from winning by default.
If ticket restrictions are set on the giveaway, winners must hold one of the allowed tickets. If the event's giveaway settings require attendance, winners must also match the configured attendance rule, such as live attendance, replay viewing, in-person check-in, or any of those.
Social sharing and viral incentives can increase an attendee's weighting in the draw, but HeySummit does not verify that a social post was actually published.
If Allow Attendees to Win More Than One Giveaway? is turned off, HeySummit excludes attendees who have already won another giveaway for the event.
Winner emails and reporting
When a winner is selected, HeySummit sends the winner email and notifies the relevant speaker, sponsor, or organiser depending on who the giveaway is attributed to. For a talk-level giveaway without a direct speaker attribution, the talk's speakers are notified.
Winners appear under Reports > Giveaway Winners. If no eligible attendee can be found, the giveaway is marked as having no winner found.
