What happens when a speaker or talk is inactive?

Written by Benjamin Dell

Marking a presenter or session inactive removes that record from the normal public event experience without deleting it. Public profile or session links can show an unavailable or not-found page. An organiser's preview can behave differently from an attendee's ordinary public link.

Check the presenter

  1. Go to Content & Schedule > Presenters.

  2. Choose Actions > Manage Presenter.

  3. In Details > Private contact and status, check Active?.

  4. Select Save and Close.

Check the session

  1. Go to Content & Schedule > Sessions.

  2. Choose Actions > Advanced Settings for the session.

  3. In Visibility and Display, check Is Active?.

  4. Select Save.

If the public page is still unavailable

  • Check that the session is not cancelled or awaiting approval as a speaker submission.

  • For event types other than Library or Course, the session needs a scheduled date.

  • Presenter visibility also depends on whether your event shows presenters without linked sessions, and on host/moderator page options. See speaker visibility settings.

Presenter and session status are separate. Some public session lists require an active presenter, while an otherwise eligible session's direct public page does not. If you intend to hide a record temporarily, leave that record inactive and reactivate it when ready.
