Connecting your Stripe account

Written by Benjamin Dell

Scenario

Connect your Stripe account when you want ticket, add-on, or donation payments for this event to be processed through your own Stripe account instead of HeySummit's default payment processing.

Your Stripe account must be fully set up and able to accept live payments. If you have not finished that yet, use Stripe's account setup guide.

Your event's ticket currency also needs to be available for Stripe. Stripe supports many card-payment currencies, but payment methods, settlement, conversion, and fees can vary by your Stripe account country, currency, and enabled payment methods. Stripe's supported currencies and payment method support docs are the best source for those details.

You can keep more than one payment gateway connected in HeySummit. If Stripe and another gateway such as PayPal are both active for the event, attendees will be able to choose their preferred available payment method during checkout.

Quick Start

  1. Log in to the event dashboard from the original HeySummit subdomain, rather than a custom domain. Learn more about custom domains.

  2. Go to Event Setup > Payment Methods.

  3. Open the Manage menu for Stripe, then choose Connect.

  1. A Stripe window opens. Sign in to the Stripe account you want to use for this event, or follow Stripe's prompts to create and set up an account.

  1. Stripe may ask you to verify your identity, choose the account to connect, or complete business details before returning you to HeySummit.

  1. When Stripe sends you back to HeySummit, return to Event Setup > Payment Methods. Stripe should show as Connected.

If you later need to refresh the connection, use Manage > Reconnect for Stripe on the same page. To temporarily stop attendees using Stripe without removing the connection, use Deactivate.
