Generate an attendee magic link safely

Create a temporary sign-in link for an attendee and handle it securely.

Written by Holly

If an attendee is having trouble opening their schedule or dashboard, you can generate a temporary magic link that signs in to that attendee's event account.

Generate the link

  1. From the event dashboard, go to Reports > Attendees.

  2. Open the action menu for the correct attendee and choose Generate Magic Link.

  3. HeySummit copies the link to your clipboard.

Use and share it safely

  • The link signs whoever opens it into that attendee's account for this event. Check the attendee record carefully before generating it.

  • Share it only with the attendee, or use it yourself when you are authorised to investigate their account. Do not post it in a public or shared channel.

  • If you open the link for support, use a separate private window so you do not mix the attendee session with your own event session.

  • Generating a magic link does not change the attendee's password. Use the event's password-login and reset options separately when password help is needed.

Expiry and reuse

  • A magic link is valid for up to 24 hours.

  • It becomes invalid after a successful sign-in, and that sign-in invalidates the attendee's other unused magic links.

  • If the link has expired or has already been used, generate another link from the attendee report.
