Changing Permissions on a Ticket After It's Been Claimed

Written by Benjamin Dell

If you change a ticket's access settings after attendees have already claimed or purchased that ticket, new purchases will use the new settings. Existing purchases keep the access settings that were copied onto them at the time of purchase unless you sync the ticket settings to those purchases.

This matters for settings such as whether the ticket applies to live broadcasts, replays, or in-person content, ticket expiry rules, limits on the number of talks, and restrictions to specific talks, categories, or event days.

How to sync updated ticket settings

  1. Go to Revenue > Tickets.

  2. Open the ticket's Manage menu.

  3. Choose Sync Settings to Purchases.

In production, HeySummit may queue the sync in the background. If you see a Syncing badge beside the ticket, give it a few minutes to finish.

If you edit a ticket and see Synchronize after save?, leaving that option selected tells HeySummit to sync the changed settings after you save. If you do not sync, existing attendees who already have that ticket continue using the old copied settings.

Important: syncing can change what existing attendees can access. Only use it when you are sure previous ticket holders should receive the updated access or expiry settings. If the change should only affect future attendees, save the ticket without syncing.

We also have a help doc on what happens to attendee access if you delete a ticket.
