Changing Permissions on a Ticket After It's Been Claimed

Written by Benjamin Dell

If you change a ticket's access settings after attendees have already claimed or purchased it, new purchases use the new settings. Existing purchases keep the access settings copied onto them at checkout unless you sync the ticket settings to those purchases.

Sync updated settings to existing purchases

  1. Go to Ticketing & Payments > Tickets, Add-ons & Donations, then open the Tickets tab.

  2. Open the ticket's (...) action menu.

  3. Select Sync Settings to Purchases, review the warning, then confirm the sync.

HeySummit may queue the sync in the background. If the ticket shows a Syncing status, allow a few minutes for it to finish.

Sync while editing a ticket

Open Manage Ticket and make the required changes on the Access tab. If Synchronize after save? is shown, leave it selected only when the changes should also apply to existing purchases, then save the ticket. Clear it when the change should affect future purchases only.

Before you sync

Syncing can change whether existing attendees can watch live broadcasts or replays, access particular sessions, categories or event days, and how long their access lasts. Only sync when previous ticket holders should receive those updated rules. For related deletion guidance, see What Happens to Attendee Access if I Delete a Ticket?.
