MailPoet Integration

Connect MailPoet through WordPress so HeySummit can sync attendees to a MailPoet list.

Written by Benjamin Dell

Use the MailPoet integration when you want new HeySummit attendees to be added to a MailPoet list on your WordPress site.

MailPoet integration settings in HeySummit

Before you connect MailPoet

MailPoet connects through WordPress, so you need access to the WordPress site where MailPoet is installed.

  • Install and activate MailPoet on your WordPress site, then complete MailPoet's setup.

  • Install and activate the HeySummit Connector for MailPoet plugin on the same WordPress site.

  • Create a dedicated WordPress user with the HeySummit Connector role.

  • From that user's WordPress profile, create a revocable Application Password named HeySummit. Do not use the user's normal WordPress password.

Connect MailPoet in HeySummit

  1. From your event dashboard, go to Setup > Integrations.

  2. Find CRM & Email Integrations and click Add.

  3. Choose MailPoet.

  4. Download the HeySummit Connector for MailPoet ZIP from the setup instructions if you have not installed it yet.

  5. Enter the HTTPS WordPress site URL where MailPoet and the connector plugin are installed.

  6. Enter the dedicated WordPress username and the WordPress Application Password created for HeySummit.

  7. Choose the MailPoet list that should receive attendees, then save the integration.

Optional tags and field mappings

You can apply a MailPoet tag as attendees sync. You can also map HeySummit custom registration answers and other attendee fields to MailPoet custom subscriber fields when those fields are available from your WordPress site.

Sync existing attendees

After the integration is connected, new attendee registrations sync automatically when your plan includes CRM and email integrations. To send existing attendees to MailPoet, open the integration's action menu and choose Resync Attendees.

Troubleshooting

  • If lists or fields do not load, check that MailPoet and the HeySummit Connector for MailPoet are active on the same WordPress site.

  • Use a WordPress Application Password, not the user's normal WordPress password.

  • Make sure the WordPress user has the HeySummit Connector role so HeySummit can access the connector endpoints.
