Assign categories to a talk

Use optional talk categories to organise content, help attendees filter schedules, and support ticket restrictions.

Written by Benjamin Dell

Categories are optional topics that help you organise talks and help attendees find relevant content. They appear in the talk form only when categories are enabled for the event.

Create a category

  1. Go to Content > Categories.

  2. Add the categories you want to use for this event.

Assign categories to a talk

  1. Go to Content > Talks.

  2. Create a talk or open an existing talk.

  3. In the talk's Details step, select one or more options under Topics Covered.

  4. Finish the talk setup or save your changes.

How categories are used

  • Attendees can use categories to filter talks in the event schedule.

  • Public category pages can group talks and speakers around a topic.

  • Tickets can include or exclude access to selected categories. See Setting up tickets for your event for the wider ticket workflow.

A talk does not require a category or speaker in order to be saved. Add them when they help customers understand and navigate your programme.
