A viral incentive asks an attendee to complete an optional action after checkout, such as joining your community or signing up on another site. Each incentive the attendee clicks gives them one additional entry when HeySummit chooses a giveaway winner.
Create a viral incentive
Go to Content > Viral Incentives.
Select Add Viral Incentive.
Add a title and the destination URL. You can also add a description, choose an icon, or replace the default button label.
If the destination form supports query-string values, you can choose to include the attendee name or email address in the URL.
Turn on Always Show During Checkout? if the action should appear even when your event has no HeySummit giveaway. Otherwise, incentives appear when there is an eligible event or talk giveaway.
Save the incentive.
What attendees see
The incentive appears on the confirmation page after checkout. Selecting its button records the attendee intent and opens your destination URL in a new tab.
How clicks and giveaway entries work
The number shown beside an incentive in your dashboard is its click count.
HeySummit records the attendee when they select the incentive button. It cannot confirm whether they finished an action on the external site.
Each recorded viral incentive adds one entry to that attendee's weighting when a HeySummit giveaway winner is selected. One completed incentive therefore gives two entries in total: the normal entry plus one bonus entry.
If you still need to create the giveaway, see Setting Up an Event-wide Giveaway.
