Who Has Registered vs. Who Has Completed Checkout?

Written by Benjamin Dell

Use Registration & Attendees > Attendees to check how far someone has progressed through registration. The current dashboard uses Registered for completed checkout, including a free checkout. Entering an email address alone is an earlier stage called Email Provided.

Understand the registration stages

  • Pre-registered: the attendee joined before full registration was available.

  • Email Provided: HeySummit has an email address, but checkout is incomplete.

  • Ticket Selected: the attendee selected a ticket but has not completed checkout.

  • Talks Selected: the attendee selected sessions but has not completed checkout.

  • Finalising Checkout: the attendee reached the final checkout stage but has not completed the order.

  • Registered: checkout is complete. Exports and some other records use Completed Order for the same registration state.

The report can show Email issue or Potential email issue ahead of the registration state when delivery problems are recorded. Check both the registration and email-delivery information when troubleshooting.

Find incomplete registrations

The Completion Rate summary shows the proportion of attendees who completed registration and how many remain incomplete. Its bars show the incomplete stages; hover over a bar for the stage and count. Search the attendee list or use Filter records to review the people you need.

Compare session booking counts

Under Content & Schedule > Sessions, a session's registration count links to its Session Attendees report. Both use attendees with completed registration and an email address. The report is not an unfiltered list of everyone who started checkout or added a session. Session summary counts are refreshed in the background, so a cached count can temporarily differ from the current records.

Check ticket access separately

Completed registration and permission to watch a particular session are separate checks. Find the attendee under Registration & Attendees > Attendees, then open Actions > Manage Purchases to review their ticket and access. A ticket can restrict sessions, dates, live broadcasts or replays. For purchase records, open Ticketing & Payments > Sales & Subscriptions.

Use the stages in your integrations

When setting up a Zapier or other registration workflow, check the trigger's actual fields and status values. Treat Email Provided as incomplete and Completed Order as completed registration. Do not use an email address alone as proof of completed checkout.
