Scenario
You would like to know how to use UTMs on HeySummit.
What are UTMs?
UTMs (Urchin Tracking Modules) are tags in urls which are used to help track traffic to a web page. They can be extremely helpful in finding out which of your campaigns are most successful or how well you’re converting attendees from different advertising locations (blogs, emails, social media, etc).
Want to learn more about UTMs? Buffer have a great article outlining what they are and how they work here.
HeySummit saves the following UTM information to attendees when they start the registration process:
utm_source
utm_medium
utm_campaign

Quick Start
How do I add UTMs to my event url?
You will need to add these using a query string (which is represented by a "?") at the end of your url, followed by the UTM name and source.
For example:
my-awesome-summit.heysummit.com?utm_source=facebook
If you want to add more than one, you can use the "&" symbol to do so.
Example:
my-awesome-summit.heysummit.com?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fb_version_two
Please note, if you don't use the correct naming convention, your UTMs will not register and won't be saved.
How can I see my UTM data?
Through your HeySummit event dashboard, you have access to analytic data graphs for your event, including UTM sources. Hovering over these graphs will give you more information.
Example:
If you want to create something more bespoke, you can get this data via an attendee report. This csv file includes UTM information for each attendee. To do this, navigate to Reporting > Attendees and click the “Export” button.
