Ticket-Based Restrictions for Alternative Broadcasts

Written by Jerica

Use ticket-based restrictions when an alternative broadcast should only be available to attendees with specific tickets. This is useful for VIP sessions, language-specific streams, breakout rooms, sponsor-only rooms, or any version of a talk that should not be open to every attendee.

Before you start

This setting applies to alternative broadcasts on a talk. If you have not created the alternative broadcast yet, start from Content > Talks, open the talk's alternative broadcasts menu, and choose Create New. You can read the main alternative broadcast setup guide here.

How ticket restrictions work

Each alternative broadcast has a Restrict to Tickets? field. When you select one or more tickets, HeySummit only lets attendees with one of those tickets access that alternative broadcast.

If an attendee has a ticket selected in Restrict to Tickets?, HeySummit can also default that attendee to the matching alternative broadcast when they open the talk page. Attendees can still use the talk page's alternative broadcast selector where available, but they will need the right ticket to view a restricted option.

Set up a ticket-restricted alternative broadcast

  1. Go to Content > Talks.

  2. Find the talk and open its alternative broadcasts menu.

  3. Create a new alternative broadcast, or open the existing alternative broadcast you want to restrict.

  4. In Restrict to Tickets?, select the ticket types that should unlock this version of the broadcast.

  5. Save the alternative broadcast.

Common uses

  • Send VIP ticket holders to a private stream or breakout room.

  • Offer a translated version of a talk to attendees with a regional or language-specific ticket.

  • Provide an ad-free, premium, or sponsor-hosted version of a session for upgraded tickets.

If the main broadcast also has ticket restrictions, attendees still need access to the talk itself before the alternative broadcast restriction is checked.
