Some organisers need sales tax or VAT to be calculated based on the attendees’ locations. Full dynamic tax calculation is planned for the future, but it is not available yet.
You can choose how tax is handled for paid tickets in your Billing & Tax settings. Available options include no tax, tax included in the ticket price, or tax added at checkout. When tax is added at checkout, attendees will see the base ticket price first, with tax clearly itemised during checkout and on invoices. Ticket prices may also display an “excl. tax” label where applicable.
Using tax included in the ticket price ensures that HeySummit calculates and displays the tax portion during checkout and on the attendee invoice. This keeps pricing clear for attendees and accurate for your records.
Organisers can also choose to apply a general or blended tax rate across their event. While this does not provide location-specific calculation, it helps ensure tax is collected appropriately, avoids unexpected liability, and shows itemised tax at checkout.
